‘World’s most advanced flight simulator’ will soon work with Apple Vision Pro

When Apple releases visionOS 26.4, Apple Vision Pro will be able to display the “world’s most advanced flight simulator” for the first time. That’s because the upcoming software update introduces support for a key technology that will enable this new immersive flying experience.

X-Plane 12 is coming to Apple Vision Pro

X-Plane 12 is dubbed “the world’s most advanced flight simulator,” and it’s already available on the Mac, Windows, and Linux.

Starting with visionOS 26.4, which is currently in beta, X-Plane 12 will come to Apple Vision Pro for the first time.

It turns out visionOS 26.4 enables support for Nvidia’s CloudXR 6.0 technology.

An upcoming companion app for visionOS will use CloudXR to turn Apple Vision Pro into a viewpoint for X-Plane 12. The team behind X-Plane announced the news today:

With the companion app, X-Plane 12 will be able to automatically detect an Apple Vision Pro and stream the flight simulator to the device.

X-Plane 12 is likely just the first of similar immersive simulator experiences that will be enabled with visionOS 26.4.
